Dear Parents and Guardians,
Halloween is over and a new month
has begun. The kids had fun during
Pumpkin Day learning about pumpkins through math, science and art. Ask your child about some of the
stations. Please do not send in candy to school for
snack time as we are focusing on eating healthy snacks to energize our bodies
and stay focused on learning. Sharing
time at the morning meeting will stop for the next two months (November and
December). Please remind your child not
to bring toys, trading cards or other items that become a distraction. Thanks for your help in making sure your
child gets his or her homework done promptly and turned in on time. The new November Reado was sent home and math
home links continue Monday through Thursday with the exception of Wednesday
nights which is reserved for Math Games!
In the Classroom
In Writer’s Workshop, the
students did a great job writing their Halloween Clues and sharing them with
their classmates. They wrote adjectives
to describe their costume and it was fun when they read their clues and the
kids tried to guess what they were going to be for Halloween.
In Reader’s Workshop, the focus
in guided reading groups has been on Informational Text (non-fiction)
and learning about the text features. The
read aloud book, The Boxcar Children helps to reinforce character
traits, and story elements. The
kids have also been enjoying LadyBug books and voting on them after each story
is read.
